Battery Management System with single cell monitoring of voltages and temperatures. The BMS passes the information on to the VCU (see below) which controls the charger and the motor controller in such a way that the battery is optimally used. A sophisticated BMS can prolong the service life of the expensive battery by a factor 2 to 5.

Accelerator pedal Regenerative braking pedal
Modern cars are often equipped with an electronic accelerator pedal, usually even with a standardized interface like double potentiometer or CAN-interface. Such pedals are easy to integrate as accelerator or regenerative braking pedals in electric vehicles.

Emergendy Off Every electric vehicle needs an easily accessible Emergency Off button for safety reasons. By pushing the button, the main contactors are opened and thus the battery is separated from the vehicle traction system.

  Power steering
For hydraulic power steering systems, an electric motor is required to operate the hydraulic pump. For electric power steering systems there are no specific precautions required.

  • Since most devices are still manufactured manually and in relatively low volumes, a price reduction by a factor 2 to 5 can be expected for medium volumes (10, 100, 1000).
  • For really economic prices, large volumes are required (10k, 100k). In order to get there, a large development effort is necessary which adds several millions to the bill.
